SIX STEPS TO JOIN FIDA

Getting started with FIDA is simple. Follow these steps to join a local club and begin your journey:

1. Find your local Club

Enter your postcode into our club Finder to see which FIDA club is closest to you.

2. check your egibility

FIDA welcomes players with an intellectual disability who want to enjoy inclusisve AFL football. Beacause every players's circumstances are unique, eligibility is confirmed directly with your local club. Your club will guide you through the process and answer any questions.

3. Registered through playhq

Once your club confirms eligibility, complete your registration via PlayHQ, the AFL's official competition platform.

4. Pay your registration fee

FIDA has a registation fee for all players and then clubs will include their own fees, which vary by club. Your chosen club will advise you of costs during registration.

5. Attend training

Join your team for training, meet your coaches and teammates, and get ready for the season.

6. start playing in the fida competition

Once training begins and registration is confirmed, you're ready to take the field and enjoy inclusive AFL football.

Here are some common questions from new players and their families.

How do I register?

Registration is managed directly by your local FIDA club. Use the Club Finder above to locate your nearest club, who will guide you through the PlayHQ registration process and help you get started.

FIDA charges clubs a base fee for every player registered to play in the FIDA competition. Each club then sets its own player fees, which may include additional costs to cover uniforms, equipment, or local activities. For the most accurate information, please contact your nearest club directly.
If you need support, your club can guide you and your carer or support worker through registration and training. You can also view our section about how to register above.
FIDA is an AFL Victoria Affiliated Community League & is bound to the AFL’s National Community Football Policy Handbook. This includes all FIDA Clubs, Players, Officials, Volunteers & Umpires.
A comfortable pair of runners or football boots (no metal/steel studs), comfortable clothing suitable for running/walking around in, mouthguard & a water bottle. Your local club may provide you with additional uniform such as a guernsey, shorts & long socks.
